It all started with a love story: in the year 1946 Colonel John Roper Robinson and Susi Essbach meet in Brixen. At the beginning they live together at the hotel Greif in Bozen, but they are looking for a peaceful place to settle down. During a short trip to Torbole on Lake Garda they fall in love with the quaint old fishing village. Walking along Via Bellavista they see a piece of land for sale and soon after they build their villa right there. The same year, in 1948, their daughter Vera is born.
Life in Torbole goes on leisurely and the family spends carefree years.
In 1970 the idyll comes to an unexpected end and the property changes owners.
All that remains are memories and the innermost wish from Alessandro, the grandson of John and Susi, to one day honour his much beloved grandparents and buy a house on top of the Bellavista Hill.
Very often he had listened to the old stories of „Omi Susi“, talking about high-ranking visitors and exiting events and his dream was to buy a place in the same area.
By pure luck in 2017 Alessandro discovers a villa in Via Bellavista for sale, right next to the past property of his grandparents. In the former bed & breakfast guests would go in and out until the 80ies, when it finally had to shut the doors and the villa fell into a kind of Sleeping Beauty slumber. In August 2019 Alessandro becomes the new owner of the villa in Via Bellavista. After a careful and extensive restoration the VistaLago Guestvilla will welcome guests under the motto of “Omi Susi”:
